History of Scrabble

The history of Scrabble begins with the invention of a comparable game by the name of Lexiko, invented in 1938, however the manufacturing rights were sold to James Brunot in 1948. Zero points are given for 2 blank tiles that are useful for substituting any letter. The game board features colorful squares, which when played can double and triple your score.

Determining who plays first, every player will draw a tile form the bag, and the closest tile to the beginning of the alphabet goes first. Seven tiles are then drawn by each player to begin. During a players turn, he or she can form a word on the board and score points or pass on their turn, or they can exchange some of their tiles for tiles still in the bag. Words are formed from the center of the board by the first player, then she or he will draw more tiles to replace those which were used from their rack, keeping a total of 7. You can score points while making words of the various letter tiles, as words may be formed going up, down or across the board grids. The game is complete when someone either plays all seven tiles on their rack and there are none in the bag to draw from or when six scoreless turns in a row have occurred with a score no more that zero – zero. The scores are tallied once the players subtract any points left on his or her rack.
